At Big Industries, our Academy is about more than technology, data and learning new skills. It’s also about spending time together, sharing experiences and strengthening the team.
For our latest Big Industries Academy activity, we traded laptops and data platforms for something completely different: Vespas, good food and a day on the water.
Our day started at La Bella Vespa, where we swapped four wheels for two and headed out on a Vespa tour through the beautiful Leie region around Ghent.
La Bella Vespa offers Vespa routes through the region, including Sint-Martens-Latem, Deurle and the surroundings of Ooidonk Castle, and combines these with activities such as restaurant visits and boat trips.
It was the perfect setting to get away from the office, enjoy the scenery and, most importantly, have some fun together.
After the first part of our Vespa adventure, it was time to slow down and enjoy a well-deserved lunch at a great restaurant.
Good food, great conversations and no Teams calls in sight — exactly what a Big Industries Academy day should also be about.
After lunch and another stretch on the Vespas, we exchanged the road for the water and boarded a boat for a relaxing tour on the Leie.
With the sun, the scenery and the team together on board, it was a great way to wind down after an active day. And, of course, we finished things off with a few drinks together.
The Big Industries Academy is an important part of our culture. Sometimes that means diving deep into Data Platforms, Cloud, data engineering or AI. And sometimes it means getting out of the office and simply enjoying being together as a team.
Because building a great company isn't only about sharing knowledge and developing expertise. It's also about creating connections, having fun and strengthening that family feeling.
